Kabini forest - monsoon expedition
Kabini Wildlife Sanctuary or Kabini National Park is a famous tourist spot in southern Indian state of Karnataka, offering different kinds of animals, birds, and wildlife. It is situated in the southern-eastern part of Nagarhole National Park near Mysore, Karnataka, India. The Kabini National Park sprawls over an area of 55 acres of forestland, water-bodies and steep valleys.
Our expedition went for 2 days with 3 safaris into woods of Kabini. It was drizzling when we reach the park but excited on exploring wildlife in rain
Spotted deer, most common species in Nagarhole park. They stay in herd enjoying rain, feeding on fresh monsoon grass and resting.
monsoon is best season for photography.Antlers are extensions of an animal's skull found in members of the deer family. They are true bone and are a single structure. They are generally found only on males.
When perched, an adult appears overall dark brown with an almost black 'hood' on the head and neck. The breast and belly are brown with white mottling. The crest is black with some white flecks is very prominent when raised. In flight, their underside is brown with a distinctive single, broad, pale band across the tail and wings. They hold their wings forward in a shallow V shape. The legs, eyes, and skin around the eyes and beak (lores) are yellow and bare.
Being bird watching, was excited to capture some birds in that dense forest. Initially, i saw many orange winged birds flew from one bark to another due to noise of our jeep. later we stopped for 10 mins because of warning call then spotted this beauty on tree bark
Was about to end our safari, this hanuman came on sat on bending branch of fruit tree for his evening snacks. he was there for 3 to 4 mins munching, posing for our shoot then hw moved back his way to join family

Peacock-displaying his jewel with lust green frame
the dancing king of the jungle, and probably the largest and most colourful beauty of the bird family, the peacock is synonymous with its iridescent tail feathers, which comprise about 65 percent of its body length. The plumage on a peacock’s tail is made up of almost 150 feathers that culminate in an eye at the tip.
